Chin Ung-Ho
This is a history of Sarawak's oldest political party, which started as an anti-Malaysian left wing group and ended up as a member of Malaysia's long running Barisan Nasional governing coalition. Despite this, the party, with its mainly Chinese political base, managed to keep its supporters, while other Chinese parties of a similar vintage lost theirs. Looking at the period from its formation in the 1960s though to the state elections of 1991, the author seeks to explain why. 331 pages with appendices, a bibliography and an index.
